bjprowlerI don't have a "bucket list" right now, but I'm thinking of starting one and putting this at the very top of my list....

padrooBeautiful train and scenery.

When I was in the Air Force Reserves back in the 80's we Han a weekend off and I took a train from Milan Italy to Zurich Schwitzerlan and saw similar scenery. Around every turn was another post card picture. The train was nice but not like the one in the video.

ed monahanWe did 13 days in Switzerland last May. We rode trains virtually all day, most days. We hit every MAIN ride that they had and it was spectacular, to say the least. The trains are on time EVERY time and really clean. You are wasting money if you buy 1st Class as the next step down is great.
That said, the Canadian Rockies put the US Rockies to shame and the US Rockies are really something to see but the Canadian Rockies are a must see. I drove all through them and rode a tour bus all through them. You can't go wrong.
I would like to do the train all across Canada and then up through Banff, Lake Louise, etc. Spectacular.
KlondikeKatNope, but Ive traveled the Whitepass Railway,, not for the faint of heart, still runs on the narrow gauge tracks today

In 1994 the White Pass & Yukon line was named one of the world's Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks. It may not sound like an especially prestigious award, but it put this tiny railroad in some pretty illustrious company. The Panama Canal, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty are all to be found among the award's 29 recipients.

padrooGood video and a great story of determined people.
ed monahanYeah, we did that one several years ago. Very scenic. The old trestle was still standing near the top, but not in use for years.
